We’re looking for new board members!
VA Press has been publishing stuff by amazing authors from all over the globe since 2014 when our founder, Freddy, started assembling poetry paperbacks by hand with Elmer’s Glue and a homemade vice in their kitchen. Now we’re a nonprofit and want to use that status to navigate new paths to engage the public with contemporary independent literature, art, and DIY publishing. We seek to add candidates to help us share the body of work we’ve assembled and bring fresh ideas for leading people to the joys of reading, writing, and public performance. This is an unpaid volunteer position for people interested in furthering the cause.

The responsibilities of VA Press Board members include (not listed by priority):
Attend Board meetings, Board subcommittee meetings, and ad hoc meetings.
Support VA Press financially by
Fundraising - Board members are expected to make give/get contributions starting at $1. This contribution can be fundraised from the member's network, pledged monthly, or individually donated.
Contribute unique skill sets and experience to assist the Press in moving its mission forward.
Be an active Board member and provide an average of 5 hours of volunteer service a month (this includes the previously mentioned meetings) and actively participate in board recruitment efforts.
Enhance VA Press’ image by enlightening your networks and community about the cool shit we do. Help build relationships in the literary community and beyond.
